What he does at the center

An oncologist at an integrative immunotherapy center faces a question that a standard oncology appointment does not raise: whether cell immunotherapy is appropriate in this particular clinical situation, and how to fit it into treatment that is already under way without interfering with it.

That is why the appointment starts with the documents rather than with prescriptions: the diagnosis and its morphological confirmation, the stage, what has already been done — surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted or immune drugs — how the patient tolerated it and what their condition is now.

There are three possible outcomes, and all three are normal. First: immunotherapy is suitable, a course is prescribed and its place relative to the main treatment is defined. Second: further work-up is needed, without which any decision would be guesswork. Third: the method is not indicated here — and then saying so straight away is more honest than starting a course.

How the consultation goes

  1. 1

    Before the appointment

The coordinator clarifies the diagnosis and asks for medical records, histology and imaging. This is not a formality: without morphology and stage, a discussion about immunotherapy has nothing to stand on.

  2. 2

    At the appointment

The doctor goes through the documents with you, explains what the method does and does not do, and states the expected effect and the limits. It takes about an hour.

  3. 3

    After the appointment

You receive a written opinion with recommendations. If a course is indicated, the schedule, timing and cost are set out; if further work-up is needed, you get a specific list.

ImportantA consultation does not replace follow-up with your treating oncologist and does not cancel the treatment they have prescribed. At the center cell immunotherapy is used in addition to the main therapy, not instead of it.

Conditions he works with

The oncology programme of the center covers eleven conditions. Below are those patients ask about most often.
